Editorial standards
How we write and medically review health information.
Health information should be accurate, clear and honest. These are the standards every article in the Suncoast health library follows.
Who writes our articles
Articles are written by Suncoast doctors or by our editorial team working with them. Every article names its author.
Medical review before publishing
No health article is published until a named Suncoast specialist has reviewed it. Reviewers check facts against current clinical guidance, confirm sources, remove unsupported claims and make sure readers know when to seek urgent care. The reviewer's name, qualifications and review date appear on the article.
Sources
Key medical statements are supported by reputable sources such as peer-reviewed research, national and international health authorities and professional medical bodies. References are listed at the end of each article.
No promises of outcomes
We do not publish guaranteed results, cure claims or statistics we cannot verify. Every patient is different, and articles explain options — they are not treatment plans.
Updates and corrections
Articles show the date they were last updated and reviewed. When guidance changes or an error is reported, we correct the article and it goes through medical review again.
Independence
Our articles are written to inform patients. They do not contain paid product promotion.
