From Fear To
Strength
Priyas Journey Through Breast Cancer Treatment
Priya Kumar, a 42-year-old homemaker from Vellore, first noticed a small lump in her right breast during a self-check in March 2024. Initially, she dismissed it as harmless. When the lump persisted, she visited Suncoast Hospital for screening and evaluation.
Treatment Timeline
Diagnosis & Treatment
After a mammogram and biopsy, Priya was diagnosed with Stage II invasive ductal carcinoma.
The oncology team developed a comprehensive, personalized treatment plan including lumpectomy surgery, six cycles of chemotherapy and focused radiotherapy.
Support & Challenges
I lost my hair, felt nauseous, and was emotionally drained.
However, the nurse support group and counseling services kept her morale high. Weekly support meetings helped her share fears, tears and eventually victories.
Strength Through Support
Recovery & Reflection
By November 2024, Priya had completed all treatments. Her follow-up scans were clear.
She now volunteers in cancer awareness campaigns, encouraging women to perform regular self-examinations and seek early screening.
Cancer is not a death sentence.
With the right care and support,
we can write a new chapter.
